Allan Schore

Ph.D

Over the last three decades Dr. Allan Schore’s work has been an important catalyst in the “emotional revolution” now occurring across the mental health field and various scientific disciplines.

His work has heralded a new era of psychotherapeutic treatment centered on emotional processes “beneath the words” in both therapist and patient. The adaptive functions of the emotional right brain, the psychobiological substrate of the unconscious mind, describes not only affect and affect regulation within minds and brains, but also the communication and interactive regulation of affects between minds and brains.

Allan Schore shared new developments with the Seattle Schore Group for 14 years in quarterly meetings. This session continues that tradition.

I miss our quarterly meetings (Seattle Schore Group) but getting this update is a wonderful compensation. I feel so deeply grateful seeing the research supports and encourages the way I intuitively work as a psychoanalyst. So many other influences have tried to dissuade the authenticity and spontaneity which I know deep down is therapeutic! Thank you and PLEASE come again next year Allan!!

I attended the Berkeley study group with Allan for many years, and have sorely missed the unique opportunity to immerse myself in the research, knowledge and co-creation of deepened understanding of RBP. I would love more opportunities, and in particular more interactive moments with questions that lead to reflections on what gets generated from our combined experience of what Allan presents and from all the experiences and knowledge bases brought to the group by participants. The direction of psychotherapy in the communities in which I practice so often leads me to feel like a lone RBP/IPNB alien dropped into a strange planet of practice. I feel supported, inspired, and so very much less ALONE. A thousand thanks to Allan for sharing his heart, mind and valuable time with us all; and to those of you at Playful Dyads who supported this event. This was my favorite Christmas present this year!

Confirmed to me the reasons why right-brain to right- brain therapy is so vital and effective for clients than past left brain tactics. I feel at times when a significant connection occurs with a client it cannot be described analytically but rather in the body. I really appreciate all the readings especially on "improvisational theatre" because I feel that is a useful tool to use with children and teens.
